About D&R

D&R is a Nairobi-based storytelling group founded by Eugene Mbugua, operating across three distinct but connected divisions: D&R Studios, D&R Digital, and D&R Impact. Together they cover the full spectrum of content — from broadcast television and corporate production, to a growing network of digital-first channels and platforms serving audiences across finance, youth culture, and lifestyle, to social change campaigns for some of the world's most prominent development organisations.

Our Founder

Eugene Mbugua is the Founder and CEO of D&R. A Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 honouree and Business Daily Top 40 Under 40 alumnus, Eugene has spent over a decade building one of East Africa's most recognised independent content businesses.
His creative leadership has shaped campaigns for the Gates Foundation, PATH International, Malaria No More, Girl Effect, Marie Stopes, GVRC, and KCDF — translating complex development issues into stories that resonate with Gen-Z and millennial audiences across the continent. He is the current Lead Consultant on Digital and Storytelling for the Gates Foundation in Africa, overseeing work across Kenya, Ethiopia, South Africa, Senegal, and Nigeria.
Eugene serves on the Board of SHOFCO, the grassroots movement recognised with the Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize for serving over 2.4 million people across Kenya's urban slums.
